It is a great honor to present to you the newest addition to the @duzu_watches family. Allow me to introduce to you the Warthog. As the name implies, this watch was inspired by the badass plane. The influences can been found throughout this watch, from the hands that were inspired by the hands on the A-10’s analog cockpit instruments, to the caseback that was inspired by the A-10’s GAU-8/A Avenger cannon.

This watch is the prototype that Wayne sent me for a review. It’s not a new watch alert, it’s strictly a loaner that I am going to spend some time with to photograph and to review. I have to say that based upon my initial impressions, this is definitely Duzu’s most impressive watch yet. First reaction?!? I was blown away. This was going to be my post for Monday, but I could not wait until then. I had to get out and photograph this to share with you all!!!

There are so many details to love about this watch. The Duzu Watches Warthog is a standout timepiece that breaks away from traditional aviation designs. Inspired by the legendary Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft, this watch blends aggressive styling with tool-watch functionality.

Design Inspired by Airframe ArchitectureCase Structure: The rugged 42mm case mimics the mechanical, industrial lines of the A-10 fuselage. The lines on this watch are so incredibly smooth and beautiful. It’s incredible how Duzu managed to create a watch that feels both vintage and modern.

Dial Layout: The dial elements pull directly from the cockpit instrumentation of the “Warthog.” The custom hands were directly inspired from an analog instrument gauge from the A-10. The difference is that Duzu went with a skeletonized design which adds more depth of detail to this dial. Normally I would critique a date window that takes the place of a cardinal numeral but in this case the date window looks like it’s straight from the cockpit which not only is aesthetically pleasing but is another example of Duzu’s cohesive design plan.

The Duzu Warthog is not just another pilot’s watch with an airplane logo slapped on the dial. It is a ground-up tribute to one of military aviation’s most resilient aircraft, offering genuine microbrand innovation and a commanding wrist presence.

Every time you look at it, you notice a new, meticulously crafted detail. Because this specific piece is still a prototype, I won’t deep-dive too heavily into its exact technical functionality just yet. That said, for a prototype, the build quality is already exceptional—everything feels incredibly solid, tactile, and functions flawlessly. If this were the final production release, you know I’d be dissecting every single function in depth!

Having had the distinct honor of handling six different Duzu watches and prototypes prior to this model, I can confidently say the Warthog is by far their most impressive and cohesive design yet. I genuinely love almost everything about it.

If I could sneak into the design room for this watch and whisper a few suggestions to take this watch from great to perfect, it would come down to two things:

The Second Hand: I would love to see the standard second hand swapped out for something with a bit more visual personality, perhaps a lollipop-style hand. A subtle, detailed upgrade here would provide a more premium, finished feel that perfectly matches the rest of the intricate, well-thought-out elements on the dial.

Drilled Lugs: Can you guess my second critique? If you guessed drilled lugs, you know me all too well! In my book, there is absolutely nothing better than the sheer security and peace of mind that drilled lugs paired with robust screw bars bring to a timepiece. Honestly, this should be a baseline standard across the entire watch industry. It’s 2026—it is time to finally ditch the flimsy quick-release spring bars. If people still want them, they can always buy them aftermarket!

The Duzu Warthog is an exceptional choice for the cockpit because it translates the brutalist, ultra-resilient DNA of military aviation into a highly functional pilot watch. While many aviation timepieces favor delicate aesthetics, the Aussie microbrand has engineered a piece that mirrors the iconic “titanium bathtub” cockpit protection and high-stress utility of the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II itself.

For a pilot navigating a high-workload flight environment, a wristwatch cannot just be a tribute item—it must perform seamlessly under g-forces, changing light, and tight physical constraints.

• Anti-Glare Execution: The case features a fully sandblasted, matte finish. In a glass-canopy cockpit where sunlight reflections can cause dangerous visual distractions, a non-reflective matte finish is essential for safety.

In the air, split-second timing is everything. The dial layout of the Duzu pulls directly from legacy analog cockpit instrumentation.

3D Super-LumiNova:

• The watch utilizes thick, three-dimensional lume blocks. Whether flying a nighttime sortie or transitioning through a dark weather front, the dial provides immediate, torch-like legibility without requiring a back-light button.

• Gauge-Inspired Hands:
  The hands are directly modeled after mechanical cockpit gauges. Their skeletonized design keeps the underlying dial visible while remaining bold enough to read instantly at a glance.

  Positioned cleanly to mimic an onboard data counter, the date window adds operational utility without breaking the symmetrical flow of the dial.

• Pliable Canvas Strap: Moving away from stiff, uncomfortable military straps, Duzu uses a rugged yet highly flexible canvas weave that is soft and breathable. It easily molds to the wrist, preventing the watch from sliding or shifting while managing flight controls.

Beyond raw utility, the watch offers microbrand innovation that honors its namesake down to the smallest detail. Last I heard from Duzu, this is slated for the end of October this year, either via Kickstarter or preorders. Early bird pricing will be $388, then jump to $419. Full retail will be higher. It’s a hell of a price for details.
