We interrupt your Saturday afternoon to introduce you to the new Combat Field X6 Titanium! LumTec puts out some badass watches and the X6 is no different. This watch comes in at $995 USD and what you get for that sub $1k is quite impressive. The long list of specs is listed below. Two things that initially grabbed my attention is the crystal and the case color/finish. I love the domed sapphire crystal. A domed crystal always adds to the overall look and the profile of a watch. The dark titanium carbide PVD coated case gives this watch a badassery vibe that I truly appreciate. The watch comes with two OEM straps, which are both great but you know me, I like to show the possibilities of what a watch looks like on a custom!

The domed crystal is definitely a drawing point for me on this watch. It’s beautiful to look at from the side profile of the case. I highlighted this view in a few of these shots today. The dial is beautiful and this crystal gives the perfect porthole to view this dial.

The black & the grey are stunning and complement one another perfectly. I like how the numerals look on both the black and on the grey. They are appealing from both an aesthetic perspective and a functional perspective. It’s a Lum-Tec so we all know that the watch is going to be incredibly legible during the day and throughout the night, that’s a given! I have grown to really appreciate GMT watches. They are a reliable tool for me in both my work environment and in my home environment. I rely on the military time all day long. Timing things right down to the exact second is important so having a second that is long is essential.

The dial has exactly what you need and no unnecessary details. I appreciate the no date dial on the X6. It assists with the clean look of the dial. The hands are spot on in terms of design, aesthetics, proportions. The needle point on the hour and minute hand are hard to see in the pictures, but they are extremely sharp. I will try to capture some macro shots for an upcoming post so that you can see exactly how long and how much of a point they go into. The hands and the numerals are so precise and well done, right down to the lume application. For a sub $1k watch, this thing is impressive as hell.

There are so many details to appreciate on this watch. The coin-edged bezel paired with this crown is a cohesive match made in horological heaven. It is nice to see these types of small, cohesive details on a watch because it shows that a company put some thought and planning into the design process. I’ve seen a lot of watches that I could tell that the company didn’t have a clue into designing the watch and just tried to pack in as many random details as possible. I’ve reviewed quite a few of @lumtecwatches and every single one of them were designed with a clear vision.

The Titanium Carbide PVD hard coating adds a badass stealth vibe to this watch. There are just two things that I would tweak on this watch. The first would be making the wire lugs solid instead of a spring bar. I would be completely fine with using single pass/nato straps on this watch. I think having solid/fixed wire lugs would add a nice addition of authenticity/vintage trench watch vibes. The other detail is would tweak is having either a solid caseback or a hunters-caseback, the latter choice would add to that authentic/trench watch vibe.

That being said, every other detail on this watch is great and not in need of tweaking. The wire lugs do allow this watch to wear smaller, so if the 44mm seems daunting to some, rest assured that it doesn’t wear like a 44mm beast that will overtake even smaller wrists. This watch paired nicely with my Gerber 06 Auto Tanto knife! This watch and knife are built for adventure sustained abuse. The forged and heat-treated GR2 titanium case with the bead-blasted finish is the perfect case for enduring my abuse.

This watch is such a great offering from Lum-Tec. The Combat Field X6 Titanium GMT is a reliable kit of a watch. The robust exterior is tough as nails because of its forged and heat-treated GR2 titanium case with the titanium carbide PVD hard coating. The case can take the abuse while keeping the movement well protected.

The high precision tuned Miyota 9075 automatic movement runs flawlessly and is keeping excellent time. It’s currently running at -8 seconds per day. I love that the 9075 is a true GMT and I also love the jump hours complication. The hour hand jumps one hour at a time without affecting the 24-hour hand or stopping the movement! Lum-Tec adjusts the 9075 in 6 positions after full assembling which insures the movement has maximum accuracy. An anti-shock movement mounting system is also there for added protection.

Lum-Tec has made a reliable watch that can be added to the list of no second thought needed watches. Once the X6 is strapped on my wrist I don’t have to give it a second thought. Lum-Tec makes those types of watches. Watches that can handle daily abuse. Watches that you don’t have to worry about once its on your wrist. Bang it against a door frame, a rock, concrete….doesn’t matter, it can handle it!

There are details that I absolutely appreciate from an aesthetic standpoint and there are details in which I appreciate from a functional standpoint as well. There are also details that I appreciate that are present but not seen. For example within the screw down crwon with its locking system that contains a double diamond sealing system. This not only allows a seal to maintain the 330ft water resistance but it also assists in keeping particles out of the watch.

Another detail that can’t be seen but is present with the X6 High-tech Viton® gaskets. The seals from Viton are resistance to oxidation, ozone, UV exposure, weather, fungus and mold. They have a life span of 20 years.

I appreciate that Lum-Tec does lifetime free movement timing regulation. You just send in your watch to Lum-Tec and they will regulate the timing of your watch if you find it running too slow or too fast.

If you are looking for a GMT watch and are on a budget, the X6 is an affordable option for you coming in at under $1k.

There’s a quiet badass vibe about this watch. @lumtecwatches designed this field watch to be a rugged companion ready and willing to handle any abuse. I can’t help but to constantly admire this crystal. Capturing the angle of this crystal in which I find myself gazing at it, was my intention for these pics.

There are quite a few details on the X6 that I appreciate. The two layer grey/black dial and the stunning numerals are easily admired. I love the depth on this dial that is created by the grey top layer and the black lower layer. The color of the numerals and of the hands nicely matches the text on the dial. Lum-Tec did something that I must commend. The color matches throughout. It always bothered me when a watch has this type of color on the hands and numerals but uses ivory white for the text.

So, is this watch perfect in the sense of the fact that there isn’t anything that I would change to improve the experience?!? There are two things that I would change. I would eliminate the spring bars and make the lugs solid across. I would also make the caseback solid. This would make using single pass straps necessary but damn, it would take this watch to a higher level of badassery in my opinion.

There is something magical about a canvas strap. This canvas happens to be from a master, Peter Gunny of @gunnystraps . I have been following Peter’s journey from his beginning. He is a true master of his craft. This canvas strap is so well suited for this watch. It is like each of these two were made for each other.

This is an excellent field watch that has some great design cues reminiscent of those WWI trench watches. This watch has an automatic movement but I think it would be cool if @lumtecwatches did a limited run of these with a Unitas 6497 hand winding movement.

The crystal is the star of this show. It is definitely my personal favorite detail on this watch. The crystal gives this watch so much personality and character. This crystal plays incredibly well with the light, like crazy well, like it’s almost supernatural.

The coin edged bezel is the perfect frame for the crystal. Giving the wearer a beautiful porthole to viewing this great dial. Everything comes together in a cohesiveness that is something I look for in a watch. Each details looks in place and nothing looks out of place/like it belongs there. No unnecessary details!

Lum-Tec has done it again, they created a great grab & go watch that can handle on the go daily abuse. The best part? It doesn’t break the bank either. A sub $1k badass watch. It pairs incredibly well with my daily EDC.

Canvas is such a great strap material! It’s full of character and ages beautifully. This watch is full of character. It wears so well and on this canvas it has even more wrist presence. The crystal and the fixed bezel add a bit of horological magic to the aesthetics of this watch. Then you throw in the case shape and the welded lugs and you have a watch that demands attention.

We all know that Lum-Tec has a huge lineup of reliable watches which date back to their beginnings in 2008. In microbrand years thats like 6 decades. I have seen so many brands come and go since the early 2000’s, so when a brand has staying power it means that they are doing something right and they are doing something special.
Lum-Tec is known for their impressive lume and this X6 watch is no exception. It glows like a flashlight as you would expect from their watches.

This watch has a lot going for it and it’s quite impressive for sub $1000 especially considering the quality is much better than watches that cost substantially more. It’s a reliable and badass field watch. Don’t forget about the GMT function too! I am a huge GMT fan. The function comes in handy especially when I am working.

This watch is extremely photogenic even with its massive domed crystal. This one would be so cool too if it were plexi. This versatile watch wears most straps extremely well but this @gunnystraps cavas seems right at home.

I hate to say favorite or best but I have to say that this might be my favorite Lum-Tec watch that I have personally experienced. Yes, it’s that good. It’s a capable field watch with a reliable GMT high precision tuned Miyota 9075 movement. The anti-shock movement mounting system gives that extra insurance for any accidental abuse the watch will sustain during outdoor adventures. The forged, heat treated titanium case with the titanium carbide pvd hard coating also gives some great defense. Let’s be honest here though, this case will look great when that ASA starts showing up.

Lum-Tec is one of the OG microbrands. I’ve said this before but I will say it again, since 2008 Lum-Tec has been improving and progressing with each release. As a watch enthusiast and a tool watch nerd, it has been amazing to watch their journey. This X6 combat field watch is an incredible watch that will handle the daily abuse. It’s an example of a grab and go watch that once you strap it to your wrist you don’t have to give it a second thought until you need it!

When I am choosing my watches I look at a few different things that are my first go-to’s. Quality and engineering are high on the list but what’s also high on my list are the extra insurance details. It’s not a secret that my watches get abused. They aren’t intentionally abused but my watches are worn during everything. Working on my jeep, yard-work, at work, hiking, climbing, working out…..so they do get beat up. So Lum-Tec “insurance policy” with the titanium carbide PVD hard coating, anti-shock movement mounting system, and the screw lock crown with double diamond sealing system.

The X6 is a reliable field watch that is an example of a quintessential grab and beater. That is what Lum-Tec does. I have never had an issue with their watches. They are not only built tough but their quality control is on point! I have owned around 10 Lum-Tec over the years and I never had a QC issue.

Lum-Tec is definitely a brand that I would recommend, and in this case I would recommend this piece to anyone looking for a field watch. A field watch with a vintage vibe, a true GMT with jump hours complication and a killer double high curved crystal with military grade anti-reflective coating. As I mentioned before, the only thing that I would change about this watch would be having the welded lugs solid, eliminating the spring bars. That minor detail aside, I am thoroughly impressed with this watch.

What does a grab and go watch mean to me? It means that once I strap a watch onto my wrist it’s forgotten about until it is needed. There is no worry about it getting scratched. There isn’t a worry about it banging against a tree or rock on a hike. That is exactly how I built my collection. A collection of worry free grab and go watches. Watches are meant to be worn, meant to be abused through daily wear, and aren’t meant to be babied. If you want to baby a watch or scratches upset you, then a gada watch is more for you.

Lum-Tec has been at it awhile and the definitely understand how to make a quintessential daily beater. I like that they keep their watches affordable but don’t sacrifice quality. Their lume is always impressive. The quality control is always on point. Their watches have been on a steady progression since I started with them over a decade ago. I love that they have stayed true to their DNA along the way. They have built a massive catalog of watches that contains something for everyone. It’s been fun to watch Chris build up his brand over the years. I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Lum-Tec.

Thanks for reading. Thank you Lum-Tec
